Day 3 - VETSKILLING Roskilde: sunshine, collaboration, and a journey through history

The third day of the VETSKILLING project week in Roskilde brought another rich mix of learning, teamwork, and cultural discovery. The morning kicked off bright and early at 8:30 AM with an interactive workshop on generic skills, this time focusing on communication and how to respond in different situations. Thanks to the beautiful weather, a large part of the workshop took place outdoors — a refreshing way to learn while enjoying the morning sun.

Technical challenges and teamwork

After the coffee break, the groups continued working on the technical side of the project: building their weather stations. And it truly was a challenge. Some components didn’t behave as expected. So, what now?

This is where the generic skills learned in the workshops came into play: collaboration, active listening, and maintaining a positive group mindset helped teams work through the issues. By the end of the session, all groups had made real progress in building and programming their weather stations.

Exploring Danish culture at Land of Legends

After lunch, it was time for a cultural outing to the fascinating open-air museum Land of Legends. Here, students learned about the Ice Age, the Viking era, and traditional craftsmanship. Nature, history, and hands-on exhibits came together in a meaningful and memorable way.

Our host Pernille gave the afternoon a playful twist: the trip to and from the museum was done in a disco bus – complete with music, lights, and lots of laughter. The contrast with the peaceful surroundings of the museum couldn’t have been greater, but that only made it more fun!

Looking ahead to the final stretch

Tomorrow is the penultimate day of the project week. The focus will shift to finalizing the technical work and preparing the students' final presentations. The excitement is building – and so is the pride.
